1962 — the first foundry shop in Europe started working.

In 1962 the largest ingot-mould foundry in Europe was commissioned where blast furnace pig iron was used to cast ingot moulds and bottom plates. In this foundry, for the first time in the world, liquid sands started to be widely used for moulding and core making. 1963 — a unique cold rolling mill to roll cold-rolled sheets from stainless and alloyed steels was commissioned.  |

In 1974, the first in Ukraine, dual-hearth open-hearth furnace was commissioned, its production was 2.5 times greater as in a common one. In 1977 a slide gate technology of casting all the steel produced in the open-hearth shop was introduced. For the first time in the country at “Zaporizhstal” such new productions as follows were mastered: stainless and alloyed steels, ground and polished sheets, carbon steel sheets laminates and consumer goods, i.e. kitchen items made of stainless steel and etc. |
