Metallurgical Production comprises the following shops: Sinter Shop (six sinter machines), Blast Furnaces Shop (five blast furnaces), Open-Hearth Furnaces Shop (9 furnaces) and Shop For Preparation of Ingot-Mould Trains for Steel Pouring. There are four Rolling Mills Shops to roll hot-rolled and cold-rolled flats, steel strips, tinplate and cold-roll-formed sections. Total annual production of the Works is 3,5m tons of flats and 600,000 tons of cold-roll-formed sections.

At the sinter plant of the Works the basic iron sinter is produced. Practically the entire sintering processes are automated.

Annually in its five blast furnaces Zaporizhstal JSC produces 3.25m tons of high quality steel-making iron, heavy iron castings and commercial pig iron. A specific feature of the iron produced by Zaporizhstal JSC is its low content of sulfur and phosphorus resulting in great demand for it in the world market.

There are 9 open-hearth furnaces in the steel-making shop of the Works with the capacity of 250 to 500 tons and total steel output of 4.35m  tons per annum. Steel is made through scrap-and-ore process with use of hot metal. The open-hearth furnaces are fired with natural gas. To intensify the steel-making process oxygen is blown into all the furnaces. Steel is blown with argon. The steel produced includes low-carbon and medium-carbon, structural and ordinary grades and is teemed to form ingots with a mass of up to 20 tons used in the production of steel sheet products.

At slabbing mill “1150” carbon, alloy and stainless steel ingots are reduced to slabs 100 to 200 mm thick, 850 to 1500 mm wide and 1800 to 4800 mm long. The slabs to be rolled to produce steel sheets are transferred to the wide-strip hot-rolling mill.

The hot-rolling mill is equipped with plant units designed to ensure supplies of rolled products in the form of sheets and in coils from 1000 to 1500 mm wide. The continuous hot strip mill “1680” with the production rate of 3.5m tons per year produces steel strips from 2.0 to 8.0 mm thick and from 1000 to 1500 mm wide with the mass of coil of up to 16.0 t. Three roll-forming mills produce over 500 sections (angles, channels, etc.) and special types and sizes of shaped roll-formed sections of carbon, low-alloy and stainless steel with wall thickness from 1.0 to 8.0 mm and section width development of up to 1450 mm.

In cold-rolling mill shop ¹ 1 the continuous four-stand mill “1680”, two single-stand reversing mills “1680” and “1200”, twenty-high rolling mill “1700” and two continuous four-stand narrow strip mills “450” and “650” produce cold-rolled steel coils, strips and sheets of low-carbon, low-alloy, alloy and stainless steel. This shop is equipped with units for tempering, shearing and slitting products to ensure supplies of cold-rolled products from 0.2 to 2.0 mm thick, 10 to 1500 mm wide and up to 4000 mm long and also coils with mass of up to 14.0 t.

In cold rolling mill shop ¹ 3 the unique rolling mill “2800” is installed to produce large-size cold-rolled carbon, alloy and stainless steel sheets 1.5 to 5.5 mm thick, from 1000 to 2300 mm wide and up to 4500 mm long. The shop also includes a specialized department where ground and polished stainless steel sheets and strips in coils are produced.
