
The organization of external and internal rail transportation of raw material, materials and finished products at Zaporizhstal Works is the responsibility of the Management of railway transport.
According to the management structure of the Works the Management of railway transport is part of the management of production and is directly subordinate to its director.
The Management of railway transport consists of: three shops and the interlocking and blocking service:
- Operation shop. The structure of the shop includes six railway areas (14 stations), cargo service, wagon operation service, loading-unloading section.
The chief of the railway area controls and organizes servicing of the production shops. All the railway workers participating in transportation (shunting dispatchers and station duty attendants, locomotive-wagon coupling teams, wagon inspectors, wagon speed controllers, take-over and turner-over inspectors of goods and luggage). - Rolling stock repair shop. The structure of the shop includes a locomotive depot, a wagon depot, section for repair of hoisting transport machines (railway cranes and bulldozers).
- Shop for current maintenance and repair of railway tracks. The structure of the shop includes seven sections for current maintenance of the tracks, four teams for major overhaul of the tracks, mechanical workshops and a section for repair of pneumatic blowing of switches.
- Interlocking and blocking service. Functions of the service includes maintenance and repair of interlocking and blocking devices, dispatcher control units.
New economic relations, increase of production capacities in the main shops of the Works place high responsibility on the railway workers for high quality of railway transportation. The improvement of the quality of transportation has become possible because the railway shop is continuously undergoing technical reequipment of railway transport, the conditions of the transport means and switches, vehicles and tracks are being improved. At present the management of railway transport has 79 locomotives, 1255 wagons, 53 units of hoisting-and-transport means, 230 km of tracks, 832 sets of switches and other machinery. To keep the machinery and equipment in operating condition major overhauls of locomotives, wagons and railway tracks are carried out by the workers directly in the shop. Due to technical reequipment the Management of railway transport has mastered heavy major overhauls of locomotives which previously were carried out in specialized depots and at factories of the former Ministry of Railways. To carry out major overhauls of locomotives in the locomotive depot of the shop for repair of rolling stock, a section for lifting and major repair of locomotives with the installation of powerful cranes, electric jacks, special non-standard equipment, wheel turning lathe and wheel milling machine.
For adjustment and testing of repaired locomotives a locomotive rheostat testing device has been built. The device allows to fulfil final adjustment and control of all the locomotive units after capital repair under load. To prevent the locomotive diesels getting out of order before their time, the diesel engines 211-DZ are modernized with installation of pistons with a steel head, a technology for repairing cylinder covers of diesel engines is introduced by welding and replacing the saddles of the valves. The quality of repairs has improved due to the introduction of stands to test water, oil and fuel pumps. To maintain the wagon stock in running order in 1987 a mechanized wagon-repair station with the installation of electric bridge cranes, electric jacks and other equipment has been constructed, allowing to shorten the time of repair and to improve working conditions of the personnel.
Improvement of transportation quality has become possible due to both the technical condition of the tracks, and the switches. Workers of shop responsible for current maintenance and repair of the tracks carry out major overhauls of the tracks and switches themselves, having rejected the services of contractors. In the signalling and track repair shop the workers have mastered the technology of welding long rail pieces. Laying of jointless tracks not only eliminates the reasons for derailing of rolling stock, but also allows to considerably save fixing materials. In the Management of railway transport together with the department of automated systems of production (Computer center) a new complex of transportation management has been developed and introduced, allowing to record the number of the wagons belonging to " Ukrzalyznytsa " and to control the payment for using the wagons.
On the basis of personal electronic computers the system of dispatching control of the work of stations Vostochnaya, Yuzhnaya, Podborochnaya, Shikhta, Shlakovaya, Kovshevaya, Granbasseyn has been introduced. At the same time direct inter-station talks and radio communication at all the stations of the Works are supervised and registered. Now the shift-in-charge can receive full information about shunting and movement of the trains, operatively make decisions in complicated situations simply by pressing buttons.
New searches regarding the technical equipment, automation and modernization of the transport, widening of the list of rendered services are constantly being made. Carrying out a huge job on introduction of advanced technologies, development of new kinds of works the management of railway transport has reached the indices, making it one of the best in the branch. |
