Kryvyi Rih Received Six Modern ALV Devices from the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation

On July 28, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation together with Metinvest Company handed over another batch of equipment to medical professionals of Kryvyi Rih city. Clinical Hospital No. 8 received two high-class ALV devices. Other four devices were received by the city hospital No. 7. The presentation took place within the framework of the project “Fighting COVID-19 in Ukraine”, which became part of the large program “Rinat Akhmetov – Saving Lives”.

“Out of 200 ALV devices purchased by the Foundation for public hospitals, more than 100 have already been delivered to Ukraine. Several medical facilities receive equipment every week. The Dnepropetrovsk region will receive 12 ventilators from the Foundation, 7 of them have been transferred to the medical workers of Kryvyi Rih. Thanks to this, the region has practically eliminated the shortage of high-quality equipment for rescuing patients with severe complications from COVID-19. After the pandemic, these ALV devices will save the lives of patients with other respiratory diseases.”, said Natalya Yemchenko, member of the Supervisory Board of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation.

Dmitry Murashko, a representative of Metinvest in the Dnipropetrovsk region, a member of the regional headquarters for countering coronavirus, said the following:

“Rinat Akhmetov was the first to lend a helping hand to the country when the epidemic problem arose.

He combined all the resources of the Charitable Foundation, FC Shakhtar and businesses belonging to the SCM group in order to implement a program for which 300 million UAH were allocated. One of the components of this program is the purchasing of 200 ALV devices. Deliveries of this equipment began in March.”

Mayor of Kryvyi Rih city Yuri Vilkul thanked Rinat Akhmetov for systemic support during the COVID-19 epidemic:

“The city is systematically working to fight against coronavirus disease. We have identified hospitals that are on the first line of this struggle. In addition to the infectious diseases hospital, these include hospitals No. 7, No. 8 and No. 17. Hospital No. 8 is the main children’s hospital. I am sure that these two devices will be very useful to the intensive care unit. We are grateful to the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation for systematic and long-term work with the city. Thanks to the joint efforts of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, Metinvest and the city authorities, our hospitals are provided with deficit equipment.”

He added that the new ALV devices were also much-needed for the  hospital No. 7 and its resuscitation department. Four devices from the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation completely cover hospital’s needs.

The head of the health department of the Kryvyi Rih city executive committee, Konstantin Murashko, noted that the received ALV devices are one of the most modern in the world.

“In medicine, tools of work are of enormous importance. In the 21st century, artificial ventilation of the lungs and the treatment of patients with respiratory failure is impossible without high-level devices. They are programmed for a specific patient; they calculate the vital capacity of the lungs etc. The receipt of this equipment is proof that cooperation with the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and Metinvest is aimed at ensuring that our patients can receive quality medical care in their hometown. I would like to thank you for such an attitude, because without it we would struggle some difficulties in treatment of our patients.”, stressed Konstantin Murashko.

Andrey Skachkov, General Director of the Northern Ore Mining and Processing Plant of Metinvest, on behalf of Rinat Akhmetov, thanked the medical workers of Kryvyi Rih for their professionalism and daily important work:

“The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and Metinvest have been helping Kryvyi Rih city since the beginning of the pandemic. Together with the headquarters, we determine what equipment is needed for city hospitals. ALV devices are especially important for critically ill patients. The Foundation has previously donated an ALV device and 15,000 express tests to Kryvyi Rih. We are working together with government officials and doctors to cope with new challenges. Our doctors, who are at the forefront day and night, make a very big contribution to the fight against the spread of coronavirus.”

The Chief Doctor of the city hospital No. 8 Vladimir Melnichenko noted that such high-class devices are much needed by our doctors.

“During a pandemic it is impossible to provide required treatment without such equipment. The devices will be installed in the children’s resuscitation department, where kids with severe pneumonia and other pathologies, that require oxygen support, are treated. Thank you very much for this gift.”, said Vladimir Vasilyevich.

After the transfer of the ALV devices, the doctors of the resuscitation department were handed sets of medical clothing, which were made according to the individual sizes of doctors on the special order of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation. This is only the first batch of medical clothing. The rest of the kits are being sewn and will be sent soon.

The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation also presented certificates to the doctors who took part in the online training of how to operate the ALV device, organized by the Foundation in partnership with the Ministry of Health and the Association of Anesthesiologists of Ukraine.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic, state hospitals in Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk , Lugansk, Donetsk, Dnepropetrovsk, Poltava, Ternopil, Rivne, Transcarpathian, Kharkiv and Kiev regions have received modern ALV devices from the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation.

“Fighting COVID-19 in Ukraine” is a large-scale project of the Foundation, designed to help the country save lives. It is being implemented under the program of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation – Saving Lives. Earlier, by personal decision of Rinat Akhmetov, the project “200 ambulances for Ukraine” was implemented under this program. Then, in a record-breaking six months, state medical institutions in all regions received 200 special vehicles with the most modern equipment, capable of overcoming off-road conditions. Including 22 cars with artificial lung ventilation devices for newborns. This is the largest contribution of one benefactor to the state medicine of Ukraine for the entire period of independence of our country. Today, many of these ambulances are involved in the fight against the epidemic in all areas.
