«The Project “Ask the Doctor” of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation why vaccination is needed

Rinat Akhmetov Foundation continues weekly online meetings with Ukraine’s leading health care experts as part of the project “Ask the Doctor”. Doctors inform about the situation with the health care system, share best practices for treating diseases, and talk about coronavirus in a simple and straightforward way. To this date, more than 50 broadcasts have been held. The guest of the next broadcast was Anna Horban, a pediatrician of the highest category.

The expert once again called on everyone to take care of their health and get vaccinated.

– There are virtually no contraindications both for the elderly people and for the rest. There is an extremely limited list of health issues that may be a contraindication for vaccination, – the doctor emphasized.

Anna Horban added that at the moment Ukraine is not considering the question of vaccination against coronavirus of children under the age of 12 years.

– The more we study the history of coronavirus, the more we know about the safety of vaccines for children of different ages. To date, the effectiveness and safety of vaccination of children from the age of 5 years has been proven. By means of it, very good results have been achieved abroad, – said the expert.

She pointed out that in general there are no individual contraindications for vaccination against COVID-19 for children:

– Even the risk of anaphylactic shock from vaccines of new generation is extremely rare. At the moment we are exploring the possibility of newborn vaccination. And I think the next step will be to lower the age threshold.

Anna Horban emphasized that even new Covid strains are unable to resist vaccination.

– The available information confirms that the vaccine works, – the expert said.

Since the start of the broadcasting of “Ask the Doctor” on digital platforms of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, the content of the project has been watched more than 21 million times.
