The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and DTEK Transferred Rapid Tests to Detect Coronavirus for Medical Workers in Lviv Region

The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and DTEK transferred 4,625 rapid tests to the Lviv Regional Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine for COVID-19 detection. They are intended solely for diagnosing the health of emergency medical workers.

“Today, Ukrainian ambulance medical workers are most at risk of infecting coronavirus, because they are the first to come into contact with patients. Therefore, especially for them, the Foundation, according to the personal decision of Rinat Akhmetov, has additionally purchased and is now transferring 20,000 rapid tests, which are distributed between the Regional Centers for Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine in Chernivtsi, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Rivne, Vinnytsia, Lviv and Zhytomyr. About 10,000 medical workers will receive timely and high-quality diagnostics. In addition, Lviv region is the first to where the Foundation has transferred such kind of assistance. ”, said Natalia Yemchenko, a member of the Supervisory Board of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation.

According to her, the assistance to emergency medical workers considered for the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation as a kind of continuation of work in the field of emergency medicine. In 2019, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, as part of the project “200 Ambulances for Ukraine”, purchased modern ambulances to all regions of Ukraine. In particular, in Lviv region there are five unique ambulances equipped with everything necessary for resuscitation. Medical workers call them as the “resuscitation on wheels.” Medical crew on three off-road vehicles capable of overcoming even the mountainous terrain driving to help residents who are living in remote regions. Moreover, in the neonatal ambulance the artificial lung ventilation (ALV) devises are installed, indispensable for severe complications of the coronavirus.

Nazar Gudz, a representative of DTEK in the regional headquarters for the fight against coronavirus, handed over the certificate to receive the rapid tests for COVID detection to the Chief Physician of the Lviv Regional Center for Emergency Medical Care, Yarema Kachmar.

“Today, the fight against coronavirus infection requires a united effort, where the targeted care is not able to contain the spread of COVID-19. We are sincerely sure that only with the help of joint efforts among the representatives of society, business and government our country can get help for solving the issues that it faces in this emergency situation.” , said Nazar Gudz.

In turn, Yarema Kachmar thanked for the help and noted that the transferred rapid tests will allow carrying out the initial diagnosis promptly and preventing the increase in the number of cases.

“I am grateful to the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation for rapid tests for ambulance medical workers. Our employees are the first to contact infected patients, and therefore their testing is necessary in order to quickly detect and isolate COVID-19 carrier. Thank you so much! ”, said Yarema Kachmar.

As the deputy head of the Department of Health of the Lviv Regional State Administration, Andrey Vasko, explained, that the assistance of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation plays an important role in combating the epidemic.

“Thanks to the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation for the rapid tests and for protective suits for those of our hospitals that work with coronavirus patients. This help is extremely important in order to cope with the epidemic. ”, said Andrey Vasko.

Earlier, the Foundation had purchased and already transferred 300,000 tests to the main regional state hospitals for the detection of coronavirus. Lviv region received 30,000 of them.
