In 2021, Zaporizhstal allocated funding to pay scholarships to nine Zaporizhzhia athletes. The Works will allocate over 320,000 UAH to support the titled athletes.
Among the Zaporizhstal scholarship holders there are five candidates for participation in the Summer Olympic Games-2021 (Tokyo, Japan): athletes, masters of sports Aleksey Kasyanov, Anna Gatsko-Fedusova, Anastasia Bryzgina, Ekaterina Klimyuk, Victoria Ratnikova. Also among the scholars of Zaporizhstal are European champion in artistic gymnastics among juniors Radomir Stelmakh, titled checkers player Bogdan Panchenkov, sailing masters Kirill Dolgov and Alena Popova.
“Our athletes glorify the Zaporizhzhia region and Ukraine and have great sports potential for future victories. The success of the performances and quality of their preparation largely depends on the support of sports community. We are grateful to the Works for support of high-performance sports and contribution it makes to the popularization of sports”, said Vladimir Lobanov, the Head of Zaporizhzhia regional branch of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine.
Let us remind that Zaporizhstal traditionally supports the development of sports movement in the team. The Works annually hosts competitions as part of Zaporizhstal sports and athletic meeting, the athletes of the Works take part in corporate sports competitions Metinvest Steel Games, the working sports competition of Trade union of metallurgists and miners. The Works supports the popularization of a healthy lifestyle in the region, the development of sports infrastructure in the city. Zaporizhstal provides assistance in organizing a sports and recreation camp for the pupils of Invasport recreation center, together with FC Shakhtar, it implements the Social project “Come on, Let’s play”. With the support of enterprise, from 2016 to 2019, the reconstruction of football fields of the sports school “Metallurg” was carried out, sports infrastructure of the city was expanded thanks to the installation of public sports grounds.
