A Contest of Storytellers In Memory of the Writer Alexander Vyzhenko Will Be Held In Zaporizhzhia

Young citizens of Zaporizhzhia will be able to become authors of the continuation of the work “Khlopchyk-Ukropchyk”. The contest for the best version of the continuation of the tale will be held with the support of the competition “We Are the City”

In Zaporizhzhia, the festival of children’s literature and creativity “Knigolesye” was held. Under the festival, young Zaporizhzhia citizens familiarized themselves with book novelties, were able to talk with writers and attend various master classes. In addition, the children became the heroes of a fairy tale. “Pygmalion” Studio Theater showed the interactive performance “Khlopchyk-Ukropchyk” based on the work of Zaporizhzhia writer, actor and TV presenter Alexander Vyzhenko (“Sanko Sito”).

After the performance, the co-founder, manager and director of “Pygmalion” Studio Theater NGO Bogdan Samoilov and Zaporizhzhia writer Elena Olshanskaya announced that the “Storytellers Competition n.a. Sanko Sito” starts on October 25.

Last year, writer Alexander Vyzhenko died of a serious illness. To honor his memory and his works, “Art-Prostor” Art Center founded “Storytellers Competition n.a. Sanko Sito”. This year the project became the winner of “We Are the City”.

Igor Garmash, author of the project:

“Since Alexander Vyzhenko, during his lifetime made great efforts to awaken the love of a fairy tale in children and, possibly, his own creativity. I mean his television projects and his fairy tales. After his death, because it’s our friend and we worked together, we decided that it would be appropriate to continue this work with the children, and the best way to do this is to start Storytellers Competition n.a. Sanko Sito, so that Alexander’s name sounds, so that children have the opportunity to develop this direction, based on his last fairy tale “Khlopchyk-Ukropchyk” and on the performance of “Pygmalion” Studio Theater.
