Dolls, Tales, Games as A Way of Adaptation: There Was A Talk about Their Teaching Methods at “Children’s Radonezh” Center

At “Children’s Radonezh” Center, where children with special educational needs are trained, they showed the success of their wards – they held a fall festival. Children danced, read poetry, sang, played. Moreover, even a fairy tale was shown – “Adventures in the forest.” Now 24 children, aged from 3 to 10 years undergo social adaptation in the Center. Classes are held on weekends, in the presence of parents. This year, thanks to the support of the competition “We Are the City”, they acquired manuals and didactic materials, as well as dolls for classes.

According to Irina Pilipenko, a psychology teacher at “Children’s Radonezh”, game therapy includes fairy-tale, doll-theater therapy and other activities related to the game. One of the dolls purchased with a won grant, Oktyabrinka, “congratulated” the children with the fall.

Irina Pilipenko, teacher and psychologist: “Our center has existed for seven years, we are a non-government organization. For six consecutive years we have been participating in the competition “We Are the City” of “Zaporizhstal” Steel Works and we win grants. When we started, there were 27 winners in this competition, and now there are 100. It is very nice that it is developing like this. If there were not a project “We Are the City”, probably there would not have been “Radonezh”, thanks”.

Iraisat Magomedova, director of “Zaporizhzhia. Platform for joint actions” NGO:

“The goal of the project “We Are the City”, which is annually implemented with the support of Metinvest and “Platform” enterprises, is to unite indifferent people around a common goal – to make our city better, and Zaporizhzhia citizens – happier. And today in this children’s center, I understand that we have achieved this goal. Together with teachers and parents, we presented the children of “Radonezh” with didactic materials that will help them develop and truly enjoy their childhood”.
