Zaporizhstal honours the deeds of World War II heroes

On the occasion of Remembrance and Reconciliation Day and Victory Day, Zaporizhstal, Metinvest Group congratulated veterans on the 76th anniversary of the victory over nazism in World War II.

The company employees visited war veterans and congratulated the heroes on Victory Day. More than 30 veterans of the steelworks received memorable gifts, food packages and flowers delivered to their homes. By tradition, the steelworks provided financial aid on the occasion of the holiday within the framework of its social programme for support of senior generation of steelworkers. Every year, Zaporizhstal allocates around UAH 4 million to provide financial assistance to the veterans of the company.

Metinvest enterprises in Zaporizhzhia – Zaporizhstal, Zaporozhogneupor and Zaporizhcoke – made their contribution to annual charity marathon “Remembrance” by providing charitable financial aid to regional and city veteran organizations in the amount of UAH 40 thousand.

Representatives of Zaporizhstal’s administration, trade union committee, youth organisation and veterans’ council traditionally honoured the memory of the workers fallen in World War II with a minute of silence and laid flowers at World War II memorials located in the territory of the steelworks.

Every year, the steelworks pays a quarterly supplementary pension to veterans and provides them financial aid for the holidays, guarantees health insurance and medical care, and supports the activities of the company’s Veterans’ Council. For these purposes, the steelworks allocates around UAH 14 million annually.
