Big Business Helps Zaporizhzhia in the Fight Against Coronavirus

On March 30, 2020, Zaporizhzhia Regional Clinical Hospital hosted the transfer of personal protective equipment (bioprotective suits and high-class respirators) to Zaporizhzhia medical workers from the businesses of Smart Holding, Metinvest and the Vadim Novinsky International Charitable Fund.

The first to combat the threat of the spread of coronavirus disease on February 22 was the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and SCM Businesses, sending 300 million hryvnias for these purposes. Smart Holding’s businesses and Vadim Novinsky’s International Charitable Fund were among the first to respond to the call of the President of Ukraine and the Headquarters to Combat the Coronavirus Epidemic at the Office of the President of Ukraine to support the fight against the spread of infection.

Today, the Vadim Novinsky Charitable Foundation donated 14420 protective equipment for doctors to the Zaporizhzhia regional anti-crisis headquarters for the fight against coronavirus infection: 1720 medical biosecurity suits and 12700 medical bioprotective respirators. At the same time, costumes and respirators were received by the regional headquarters of the Donetsk, Kharkov and Nikolaev regions.

Valuable assistance from the Novinsky Foundation to Zaporizhzhia doctors was provided by the Director General of Zaporizhstal PJSC Alexander Mironenko, who noted: “The load on our doctors is enormous. Let the doctors be sure that due to this help from the Vadim Vladislavovich Novinsky Foundation, they are reliably protected at their workplaces. I’m sure that the only and main task of doctors should be saving lives, that is why it is so important to consolidate all efforts – business, government, society – to completely defeat this threat.”

The head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration Vitaliy Turinok thanked the Vadim Novinsky Foundation for the invaluable assistance provided to Zaporizhzhia and emphasized: “The President, the Cabinet of Ministers and the regional state administrations are doing everything possible to protect people in the conditions of coronavirus infection that has affected both Ukraine and our region. We are grateful to the Vadim Novinsky Foundation, which was one of the first in Ukraine to provide assistance. Today, our region has received biosecurity suits and high-class respirators from our Foundation for our physicians. Delivery was carried out through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and with the support of the Headquarters to Combat the Coronavirus Epidemic at the Office of the President of Ukraine. The financial support was provided by the Fund. We look forward to continued cooperation. Only by uniting can we overcome our common misfortune”.

Previously the Foundation purchased ten mechanical ventilation devices (IVLs), 850 sets of protective clothing and 1000 medical glasses for doctors and it were transferred to hospitals in Kiev, Kherson, Chernivtsi and Mariupol.

The Vadim Novinsky International Foundation plans to additionally purchase bioprotective suits, medical masks, respirators, disinfectants and other scarce medical equipment. All this will be distributed in medical facilities of Krivoy Rog, Kamensky, Zaporizhzhia and the country as a whole.

Recall that in February, by personal decision of Rinat Akhmetov, the Foundation was the first in the country to respond to the global challenge of the threat of the coronavirus epidemic. Equipment for the effective treatment of COVID-19 complications has already been purchased and transferred to the Ministry of Health: high-quality mechanical ventilation apparatus (IVL) SERVO-I UNIVERSAL and SERVO AIR of Swedish manufacture and oxygen concentrators.

The Foundation purchased and donated personal protective equipment for Ukrainian doctors: a unique insulating mobile box for transporting infectious patients EgoZlin biobag EBV, a protective biological and anti-chemical suit with an EOBO-20 EgoZlin filter and ventilation unit, protective disposable overalls from chemicals, infrared thermometers with a laser pointer, multilayer respirators, face masks, goggles.

In addition, the Foundation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Development, created an educational series for teachers “Quarantine: online services for teachers”. It allows you to master all the available algorithms that will help build the correct and effective work with students and parents during the quarantine period.

The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation buys 320,000 coronavirus rapid tests for the whole country. As soon as possible they will be transferred to the Stabilization Fund, initiated by the President of Ukraine. In addition, at least 200 ventilation devices needed to save lives and other equipment will be additionally purchased.
