On 21 April 1963 the first processing stage of Cold-rolling shop No. 3 was built and put into operation. On the night of 27 April on rolling mill “2800” the team of senior roller V. Nemin, including A. Vasilyev, V. Barziya,V. Snizhko, Ye. Shevchenko, M. Belovol, produced its first products: cold-rolled thick large-size plates of special steels.
The shop was oriented on the production of high strength steel and ultra high strength steel for the needs of the military industrial complex.
By the end of 1963 the shop produced 10.6 thousand tons of cold-rolled sheets. Already next year the volume of produced products doubled.
On February 8, 1976 the department for grinding and polishing strips and plates was put into operation.

In 1994 the shop started producing a new type of product, i.e. hot-rolled sheet.
The products of cold-rolling shop No.3 were used when creating nuclear submarines and space rocket complexes. In particular, Zaporizhstal rollers rolled titanium alloys for the space programme “Buran”. For mastering specific types of products a group of Zaporizhstal workers, among which were the former Director of the plant L.D. Yupko and the present Head of the Central Laboratory V.S. Movshovich, were awarded special medals of the Academy of Science named after S.P. Korolyov and Yu. A. Gagarin “For contribution to the development of rocket technology”.
