On December 12, 2013, the city’s environmental project “Green Wave”, organized by the Charitable Foundation “Dolphin” with the support of”Zaporizhstal” SW, has been summed up. Within the campaign to collecthousehold waste chemical power sources, Zaporozhye schoolchildrencollected about 668 kg of cells in one day.
“Zaporizhstal” SW within the programs of corporate social responsibility of Metinvest Group on a permanent basis supports projects aimed at protecting the environment, development and improvement of the social environment of the city. One such project was the environmental project “Green Wave”, whose goal is the formation of ecological culture of the younger generation through the preparation and distribution of ecological materials in the city’s schools, thematic sessions, as well as campaigns and contests for pupils in city schools to collect used household chemical power sources.
27 schools of Zaporozhye took part in the campaign for cells collection. The campaign winners were: the multidiscipline lyceum No.99 (they collected 86.08 kg of cells), gymnasium No.107 (79.81 kg) and I-III stage regular school No.49 (56.18 kg). The schools-winners have got the valuable gifts: for the 1 place –42″ PHILIPS TV-set, for the second place – Canon laser-beam MFD, for the third place –Canon camera.
It should be noted that in the course of the project, the new public collection facilities were open for used-on household batteries and cells collection, where comfortable boxes for collection have been installed. All in all, this December the city collected for safe disposal about 804 kg of used household cells.
The plans of the “GreenWave” projectorganizers include development of the ecological campaign in the city, the further support of the positive ecological initiatives of the general public.
