“Zaporizhstal” Integrated Iron and Steel Works on a constant basis supports educational institutions of Zaporizhzhya and takes care of children. The Works has prepared a number of socially important events, dedicated to the special occasion of the 1st of September. Around 1 mln UAH were allocated for these purposes.
As a part of Metinvest Group corporate social program “First Time — First Grade!”, “Zaporizhstal” Integrated Iron and Steel Works organized a special event on the threshold of a new school year. 900 first-form pupils, among which are children of the Works employees and pupils of the sponsored institutions, received school kits of total cost over 500 thousand UAH. Similar events took place at the affiliated enterprises PJSC “Zaporozhogneupor” and PJSC “Zaporozhkoks”.
Besides, on the occasion of the Day of Knowledge the Works has entirely equipped three computer classrooms in three Zaporizhzhya general academic schools — No. 21, 40, 67. Around 200 thousand UAH were allocated for this purpose. Moreover, 15 sponsored schools and lycйes of Zaporizhzhya were presented with multimedia projectors and portable screens of total cost about 100 thousand UAH.
“Technology is being upgraded at great speed, which dictates our schools necessity to meet the challenges of our time. We, for our part, want to provide aid in improving teaching situation. Our children first of all have to develop such qualities as critical thinking, ability to find information and to work with it, and all this can only be achieved in the presence of proper material resources at schools”, — pointed out the General Director of “Zaporizhstal” Integrated Iron and Steel Works Rostislav Shurma.
Besides, according to the terms of the Collective Agreement, on the occasion of the 1st of September children of employees, who require social support on the part of the Works, have been provided with aid in amount of 45.3 thousand UAH. On the occasion of the holiday, the Works has also transferred 120 thousand UAH to 4 sponsored child welfare institutions as a part of quarterly aid.
