«Zaporozhstal» Steel Works within the framework of implementation of large scale project on ecological modernization of sinter plant, concluded contract with the biggest Ukrainian manufacturer of gas cleaning equipment – Berdichev machine building plant “Progress” for the total amount of 330 million UAH for the manufacturing and delivery of gas cleaning plants for the four sinter machines № 3-6.
Construction of gas cleaning systems for the sinter production of Steel Works is done according to the strategy of technological modernization of Metinvest Group companies and per the trilateral agreement between Ministry of Ecology of Ukraine, Zaporozhye Regional council and “Zaporozhstal Steel Works”. Permission № IУ 114151740127 dated June 23, 2015 for the construction of gas cleaning plants at sinter machines № 3-6 was issued by Architectural and Construction Inspection of Ukraine.
Within the framework of contract with Berdichev machine building plant “Progress” for the sinter machines № 3-6 of Steel Works’ sinter plant, there would be manufactured and delivered up-to-date gas cleaning equipment. Principle of operation of gas cleaning of sinter machines consists in multi stage cleaning of waste gases. At first, gas is cleaned in one bag filter, further, it goes to adsorber, where it is cleaned from sulphur dioxide (SО2) – up to 400 mg/m3 , then to the second bag filter. At the exit, air cleaning from the dust is ensured up to 50 mg/m3. At that, collected iron bearing dust from bag filters is returned back to the sinter production. Besides, at each gas cleaning (№ 3-6) of sinter plant, there would be installed the reactors, draft equipment consisting of axial fan, induced draft fan and exhauster.

It should be reminded, that Steel Works consistently implement projects, directed on decreasing of pollutant emission into atmosphere, in particular, in 2013 Steel Works put into operation new sinter machine №1 with up to date high –efficient gas cleaning equipment, in 2015 – gas cleaning equipment of sinter machine №2. As far as implementation of project on replacement of gas cleaning systems at all sinter machines, Steel Works’ sinter plant would reach the international ecological standards by level of cleaning the emissions of dust and gases, which would have positive impact on ecological situation in the region. Modernization of all sinter plant, envisage the investments in the amount of 70 million USD.
