Zaporizhstal SW concluded a contract with the world leader in ventilation equipment manufacturing — Konrad Reinz Company — for delivery of exhaust fans for the aspiration system of the cast house and the stock house of Blast Furnace No.4. The total amount of the contract is UAH 7.3 million.
Zaporizhstal Steel Works is realizing the outstanding revamping of Blast Furnace No.4 (BF-4) within Metinvest’s technological strategy, geared towards modernization of the Group’s enterprises. The total investments volume will make up around UAH 600 million. The project for revamping of Blast Furnace No.4 is included into the Trilateral Agreement, signed between Zaporizhstal JSC, Ministry of Environment & Mineral Resources of Ukraine and Zaporozhye Regional Council.
The new aspiration system of BF-4, except the bag filters, includes two exhaust fans for the cast house and bin trestle with capacity of 850 thousand m3 and 550 thousand m3, which are equipped with motors made by Siemens Company. The equipment is manufactured considering energy-saving solutions: their level of electric power consumption is much lower than rated indices, which will permit the Works to save electric power for about UAH 1.5 million per year.
“In the course of revamping the Blast Furnace No.4, the projects applying the most modern technologies will be realized -from the ecology and energy-saving solution point of view, and with consideration of the unit’s efficiency and productivity”, — the General Director of Zaporizhstal SW Rostislav Shurma noted.
At the moment, the next stage of construction activity at BF-4 is going on at Zaporizhstal JSC. Over 300 people are engaged daily at the site. At present time, erection of the furnace and cast house metal structures is being carried out, construction of the skip hoist building, erection of the pipe-lines and equipment of the water supply system of the Blast Furnace is going on, concreting of the reinforced-concrete foundations, walls of the skip pit at the bin trestle, the general construction works in the building of the furnace control are going on.
