On December 16-17, 2021 in Kiev an all-Ukrainian business forum of enterprises and com-panies, that introduce projects on the reduction of negative effect on the environment – “Environmental transformation 2021” in production, took place.PJSC “Zaporozhstal” of METINVEST Group obtained the highest award in the nomination “Leader of environmental investments-2021” for the implementation of the investment program of environmental re-vamping of production.
Since 2012, about UAH 16 billion have been invested in environmental revamping of PJSC “Zaporozhstal”. The largest of the projects in progress of implementation are environmental reconstruction of Sinter Plant, revamping of blast furnaces along with installation of modern dedusting systems of the cast houses and stock house, con-struction of the only hydraulic acid pickling line in Cold Rolling Shop in Ukraine, commissioning of stormwater re-turn facility, etc.
PJSC “Zaporozhstal” of METINVEST Group has chosen the way of gradual consistent environmental revamping as the only acceptable way of development.We cooperate with the scientific community, adopt the most efficient experience of ecologization from our colleagues and share our own finds, that confirmed their effectiveness in practise.The iron and steel works follows the principles of transparency and openness. Therefore we do not just revamp the production, but we provide the data of out own environmental online monitoring available to the pub-lic, responding to the public request” – said Head of Environmental Department of PJSC “Zaporozhstal” Inna Kho-lina.
Striving of PJSC “Zaporozhstal” to become even more open and continue to build environmental and socially re-sponsible business has been implemented in the project of online monitoring. PJSC “Zaporozhstal” is the first among industrial enterprises in Zaporozhye to provide open access to the data of the online monitoring system of the company’s emissions. Each of the reconstructed units is equipped with control sensors and connected to the single system of environmental online monitoring.
In 2021 PJSC “Zaporozhstal” of METINVEST Group finished the revamping of dedusting system of sinter ma-chine tail parts. Two bag filters were installed, enabling to increase a volume of air, cleaned from sinter machines tail parts, by 1.5 times and provide cleaning from dust of less than 45 mg/m3.The investments totalled about UAH 235 million.
Furthermore a large second degree major overhaul of the Blast Furnace No. 4 with the amount of investments of UAH 140 mln was finished in 2021 Major works performed in the course of the overhaul:replacement of the charging device, partial replacement of cooling staves, the furnace shaft shotcreting, repair of the stock house equipment, electrical, power and mechanical equipment, others.The dedusting units of the cast house and stock house had got a completely new set of filter elements – more than 5600 filter sleeves had been installed at the dedusting units.
Moreover, PJSC “Zaporoshtal” of METINVEST Group continues implementing the other projects of environmental revamping, envisaged by memoranda with Zaporozhye Regional State Administration and Zaporozhye City Council, on joint actions in the field of environmental conditions improvement.
