On February 26, 2018, a delegation consisting of representatives of European Training Foundation, Federation of Metallurgists of Ukraine, “Ukrmetallurgprom” association of enterprises, and Zaporizhzhia Regional Department of Education visited “Zaporizhstal”. The main purpose of the visit was the acquaintance with the actual system of training and development of employees at the enterprise and the practice of interaction of the Steel Works with vocational schools of Zaporizhzhia region.

Rostyslav Shurma, General Director of “Zaporizhstal”, acquainted the guests with the actual system of training and development of personnel at the enterprise, upgrading personnel qualification, mastering of new and related professions.
“Zaporizhstal” is rapidly changing: we conducted a complete ecological reconstruction of sinter and rolling processing, since 2012 investments in the Steel Works amounted to more than UAH 8.7 billion. At the same time, the main capital of the enterprise has always been and still are employees, because the most modern equipment cannot work effectively without qualified trained personnel”, – said Rostyslav Shurma.
Discussion of aims and objectives of the meeting.
The delegation got acquainted with the operation of the innovative training center “Campus”, which was opened in October 2017 to develop practical skills and upgrading the qualification of the Steel Works’ employees. More than 3000 employees have already completed a training course at the new center, which is an actual clear example of a serious personnel policy and professional development of employees at the enterprises of Metinvest Group.
Development and training of “Zaporizhstal” employees includes training, upgrade training and advanced training of workers, as well as professional, managerial, intentional training, participation in conferences. In 2018, more than 10 thousand employees will take the main profession and advanced training, comprehensive training in industrial safety and labor protection, seminars on the basics of economics, lean business and managerial programs. More than 1500 “Zaporizhstal” empoloyees will attend training of the new profession, as well as the second profession. “Zaporizhstal” has transferred more than UAH 5.5 million to implement programs for training and development of personnel in 2018.
Let us recall, that Zaporizhzhia enterprises of Metinvest employ about 250 young specialists annually.
