«Zaporizhstal» Steel Works, within the technological modernization of the steel mills belonging to Metinvest Group, in spring, 2015, performed an extensive heavy overhaul with some elements reconstruction of Blast Furnace No.2 (BF-2); the result is improvement of the ecological reliability of the aspiration system and effective furnace performance. The period of heavy overhaul made up 58 days, financing about UAH 200 million.
During revamping of the Blast Furnace No.2, a special concern was paid to updating the basic equipment components of the furnace aspiration system. Dust cleaning at BF-2 meets the requirements of the European regulations for emissions – up to 20 mg per m3 of air. Extensive heavy overhaul with elements reconstruction at Blast Furnace No.2 was performed by the Works’ spe-cialists jointly with contract and designing organizations. Totally, the repair involved over 1500 persons. Full weight of the erected at BF-2 metal structures made up about 1 thousand tons, weight of refractories – 1.5 thousand tons. In the course of repair, they replaced air ducts, three-bells charging arrangement, complete replacement of the furnace stack lining applying new modern technologies; the furnace stack was equipped with copper cooling plates manufactures by Paul Wurth (Luxemburg).
For the past two years, «Zaporizhstal» Steel Works had invested in ecological modernization about UAH 2.25 billiard: in 2013 – more than UAH 600 million, in 2014 – over UAH1.655 million. The basic ecological moderniza-tion projects of the Works are: the new sinter machine No.1 with high efficient gas cleaning system, the large-scale modernization of Blast Furnace No.4 including installation of aspiration system of the casting yard and trestle, erection of the new pickling line at the Cold Rolling Mill Shop.
