Rinat Akhmetov Foundation jointly with Metinvest handed 30 000 rapid COVID-19 tests to Zaporizhzhia Region

On April 9, 2020, medical facilities in Zaporizhzhia region received 30,000 rapid tests from Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and Metinvest to diagnose COVID-19. The tests were handed on the base of regional perinatal center and then the tests will be distributed by the regional anti-crisis headquarters for the fight against coronavirus infection between doctors of Zaporizhzhia, Berdyansk, Tokmak, Dneprorudny, as well as 35 district centers and villages of the Zaporizhzhia region.

Alexander Mironenko the CEO of Zaporizhstal PJSC Metinvest Group, expressed confidence that the tests will help stop the spread of COVID-19 in the Zaporizhzhia region: “The express tests handed by Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and Metinvest will go to 100 medical institutions throughout the Zaporizhzhia region. We are sure this is one of the most effective measures in the systemic fight against coronavirus.”

Note that earlier charitable foundations of Rinat Akhmetov and Vadim Novynskiy have already transferred personal protective equipment for doctors of Zaporizhzhia city. The governor of Zaporizhzhia region Vitaly Turinok while receiving a certificate from Rinat Akhmetov Foundation for 30,000 rapid tests for medical institutions in the region noted: “We are grateful to Rinat Akhmetov Foundation for timely assistance, because only in coordinated work we can achieve the result. Today, the representatives of government, business, and charity have joined forces to stand against this pandemic together. This help is very important for the citizens and will allow timely diagnose possible disease.”

The total contribution of Rinat Akhmetov Foundation to the Stabilization Fund, created by the President of Ukraine to stand against coronavirus, amounted to 300,000 tests for the whole country. According to the personal decision of Rinat Akhmetov in order to help Ukraine – 300 million UAH were allocated to stand against COVID-19. To do this, he combined all the resources such as the Charity Fund, FC Shakhtar, DTEK, Metinvest and other SCM businesses. Rinat Akhmetov Foundation was the first in the country to react to the global challenge of the threat of coronavirus pandemic. Equipment for the effective treatment of complications COVID-19 has already been purchased and transferred to the Ministry of Health. These are high-quality Swedish-made SERVO-I UNIVERSAL and SERVO AIR artificial lung ventilation (ALV) apparatus and oxygen concentrators.

In particular, ALV apparatus from the Foundation were installed in the Poltava Regional Infectious Diseases Hospital, Rivne Central City Hospital and Zakarpattia Regional Hospital. In the hospitals of Poltava and Rivne also installed oxygen concentrators for mechanical ventilation. A separate concentrator from the Foundation was delivered to the Volyn Regional Infectious Diseases Hospital. The Ministry of Health of Ukraine determined medical facilities that have already received equipment from the Foundation.

The Foundation also purchased personal protective equipment for Ukrainian doctors: : unique isolation mobile box for transportation of contagious patients EgoZlin biobag EBV, biological and chemical protection suit with filter ventilator unit EOBO-20 EgoZlin, disposable protective combination suits, infrared thermometers with laser pointer, multi-layered respirators, protective masks and goggles. Another 22 ventilators were installed in neonatal ambulances, transferred by the Foundation to all regions of the country under the “200 ambulances for Ukraine” project

Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Development, created educational series for teachers (“Quarantine: Online Services for Teachers”) and schoolchildren (“Digital Physical Education for Schoolchildren with Sports Stars”).
