Zaporizhstal and Zaporizhogneupor Helped the Polytechnic Center to Tansform into an Innovative Training Ground

Zaporizhzhia enterprises associated with Metinvest are actively involved in the modernization of vocational education in the region. With the support of Zaporizhstal and Zaporizhogneupor, training centers for welders and electricians were organized and operate at the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic Center for Vocational and Technical Education, and enterprises also financially assist the school in equipping the training base. Assistance of Metinvest’s metallurgical enterprises helped ZPTsPTO to win the competition of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and receive a grant to create an innovation center in the professions of “crane operator of metallurgical production” and “locksmith-repairman”.

Students and Zaporizhzhia citizens, who are registered at the employment center and wish to learn a new craft, will simultaneously master two professions – a crane driver and a locksmith. To do this, the center will equip a training room for special technologies of crane drivers, a training ground and a locksmith.

The grant of UAH1.7 million involves the co-financing of the Ministry and the city government in the ratio of 70% to 30%, respectively. It will be sent for overhaul of the future training ground, reconstruction of classrooms with the installation of modern locksmith machines, as well as the purchase of an interactive simulator, a projector with a multimedia board, laptops and other equipment.

Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic Center for Vocational Education is one of the leading educational institutions in the region. Annually, the center graduates about 500 young professionals working specialties who are employed in industrial enterprises in the region. Annually, Metinvest enterprises send about 1 million hryvnias to support the center.
