In 2022, Metinvest Group’s Zaporizhstal plant has mastered the production of a new type of cold-rolled products having double weight without a weld. The first batch of new products with a volume of 3,600 tons has already been shipped to a European customer.
Zaporizhstal mastered the production of double weight rolled products without a weld in just 14 days to the order of a European consumer company in April 2022. Specialists of the plant used hot rolling procedure for manufac-turing coils with a thickness of 4 mm of double mass, followed by rolling the metal in the cold rolling shop to a thickness of 1.5-2.0 mm. Combined rolling technology has allowed to achieve the required technical characteristics of the metal, as well as to reduce the metal consumption at all process stages.
Zaporizhstal’s new steel products meet high requirements of international quality standards. All necessary tests for compliance with the requirements of standards were carried out in the plant’s own accredited laboratory. The high quality of products is confirmed by the customer. To date, the company has already shipped 3,600 tons of the new type of rolled products, which will be used in the construction industry.
Recall that in 2021, Zaporizhstal expanded its product portfolio by mastering the production of hot-rolled coil with boron micro-alloying, as well as of HRC with new diamond patterns in sizes of 3.0-3.9 x 1050-1250 mm. Zaporizhstal’s product mix was added with hot-rolled coils of SAE 1006, DD11 and ASTM A36 grades. The production of cold-rolled coils from the tolling workpiece of DC01 steel grade having a width of 1500 mm with an edge has been mastered, the range of sizes of DC01 cold-rolled roll coils was expanded. In total for 2021, more than 17 ths tons of new types of hot-rolled and cold-rolled coils were shipped to customers. New products of Zaporizhstal are used in the construction industry, mechanical engineering, pipe industry and household sector.
It should be noted that metallurgical assets of Metinvest Group started production of 54 new types of products in 2021. The largest number of new products in 2021 was mastered in the segment of plates and hot-rolled coils. Also, novelties appeared in the categories of steel semi-finished products, cold-rolled coil, long products and galvanized coil.
