On April 21, 2018, employees of Zaporizhstal, Zaporozhogneupor and Zaporozhye Foundry-Mechanical Plant held a traditional ecological campaign “The Clean City”. Employees of enterprises along with the indifferent citizens improved city parks and squares in various districts of Zaporozhye.
The main location of the environmental campaign was Metallurg Park, which since 2018 is named after the Hero of Ukraine, honorary citizen of Zaporozhye, general director of Zaporizhstal (1986-2012) Vitaliy Antonovich Satskiy. The volunteers cleaned up garbage, painted benches and litter boxes, improved flowerbeds, planted new trees and bushes. It is symbolic that clean-up event in the park named after Vitaliy Antonovich was held on the eve of his birthday – on April 22, the legendary metallurgist would have turned 88 years old. Thus, metallurgists paid tribute to the memory of Vitaly Satskiy and began new city tradition.
Large-scale clean-up events were also held in Zavodskiy district of the city, near the Zaporozhye enterprises of Metinvest and on the island Bayda. About 200 trees and bushes were planted on the territory of the Zaporozhogneupor plant. Employees of the Zaporozhye Foundry-Mechanical Plant installed a new bus stop near the entrance of their enterprise. The youth organization of Zaporizhstal improved the recreation center “Brigantina”, situated on the island Bayda. More than 500 people took part in the environmental campaign “The Clean City”.
We want to remind that every year employees of Metinvest enterprises take an active part in environmental campaigns “The Clean City” and “Save the Dnieper Together!”, within the framework of which landscaping of the green zones of the city, planting trees and bushes, cleaning of coastline and river bottom, as well as the stocking with wish of the River Dnieper are carried out.
